Android One phones start receiving 5.1.1 Lollipop builds in India

Madhav
The Android One smartphone range in India is now receiving the 5.1.1 version of Google’s Lollipop OS, which comes equipped with bug fixes and performance improvements. The update is being rolled out in the form of OTA downloads for the three devices, and is sized at just around 11MB.
Reports of the Micromax Canvas A1, the Spice Dream Uno and the Karbonn Sparkle V getting the new Android 5.1.1 build are coming in large numbers from owners of these headsets. However, installing this update of course doesn’t bring about any easily noticeable changes to the user experience.
That’s because it’s focused more towards improving the Android 5.1 build further, rather than adding new features. It was first released for Nexus devices by Google not too long ago, which is definitely great news for Android One device owners, as this could mean that the upcoming Android M update too will hit their devices soon after it’s available.
Here’s a quick glance at the specs of the Android One smartphones in India:
– Display: 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS display
– OS: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
– CPU: 1.3GHz quad core MediaTek
– GPU: Mali 400
– Camera: 2MP front, 5MP rear
– Memory: 1GB RAM, 4GB/8GB internal storage, 32GB expandable
– Battery: 1700mAh
– Connectivity: Dual SIM, HSPA+, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS
The Android One program started by Google is aimed at increasing the reach of its operating system into developing markets. India was the lauchpad for this series of smartphones back in September last year, and it started entering other Asian nations a few months after that.
Like we said, all the three Android One handsets in India are now getting their 5.5.1 Lollipop builds through OTA downloads right now.

Earlier this year, Microsoft had announced partnership with Karbonn and other Indian phone manufacturers in order to introduce budget friendly Windows Phone devices in the market. And after the announcement of XOLO Win Q900s and Micromax Canvas series Windows phone, Karbonn Windows phone powered device was much due.

The Karbonn Titanium Wind W4 is perhaps among the lowest priced Windows phone devices available in the market right now. Karbonn has managed to price the smartphone quite competitively and is likely to reap the benefits in this festive season. Apart from other budget Android phones, the new Wind W4 will also go head to head with the newly launched Android One smartphones.
