Android One phones to get Lollipop update by January end

Users of Android One phones will get the Android Lollipop update delivered to their devices through over-the-air update method in the coming months. According to Spice, the company which made Dream Uno phone for Android One programme, the Lollipop update to its users will be rolled out by the end of January.
"We plan to provide Lollipop in our Android One devices around January 2015 and the update will be available for all Dream Uno users in India," Prashant Bindal, CEO, Spice Mobility, told IndiaToday.in
It is not clear when the users of Micromax A1 and Karbonn Sprakle V -- which are also Android One phones -- will get the Lollipop but it is certain that when the Uno is getting OTA, the same will also be delivered to these two. The hardware of all three Android One phones is same.
Actually, the Lollipop update for the Android One phones will be rolled out by Google. Sources within the company say that the update is ready and consumers may start seeing it on their phones as early as the middle of December.
Android One phones are different compared to the normal Android phones in the market. Even though they are sold by different phone companies, they use hardware specified by Google. Also, they run an unmodified version of Android and their software updates are handled directly by Google.
