Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA Updates Reportedly Delayed Till November 12

After Google on Monday announced the start of the roll-out of Android 5.0 Lollipop,Nexus 4,Nexus 5,Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 users the world over have been clamouring for the update to roll out to their devices, but to no avail.

Well, it seems impatient Nexus users are going to have to wait a little while longer, as the latest reports by Android tipsters indicate Google will only roll out the OTA update for Nexus devices on November 12, the day the Nexus 6 will be released to users in the US.

Artem Russakovskii, chief editor of the venerable Android Police website, on Tuesday in a Google+ post said he'd received information from tipsters that Google is delaying the roll-out of the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA updates till November 12 due to some 'outstanding bugs'.

While Nexus users the world over will be glad they are not receiving a buggy update to the much-awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop version, they are still lamenting Google's execution on this front, and the strange marketing tactic of jumping the gun on the announcement before ensuring the product is ready.

As several users are pointing out on forums and in response to Russakovskii's post, Google had several opportunities to work out bugs with several preview builds doing the rounds since Android L's announcement. As also pointed by our readers, the Google Nexus Twitter account has been replying to anxious Nexus users readers to say the OTA update should roll out over the coming weeks.

Notably, power users were looking forward to updating their Nexus devices to via Android 5.0 Lollipop factory images, with the hope that they would be released ahead of the roll-out of an OTA update. However, till date, only the Nexus Player, and Nexus 9 factory images have been released, despite the Mountain View giant having already released the Android 5.0 Lollipop source code for all Nexus devices.
